i running hp laptop using win 10.  went settings admin , created local account grandson.  seemed go fine. logged out , went sign in screen. new account listed, clicked on it. came , asked password. entered password , enter.  little wheel came spinning , said welcome, seconds later said signing out , never opened account.  have tried different account names, different passwords , no password required. no luck. have local accounts created awhile , work find. used windows key plus r run control userpasswords2 create account, no luck. needed. everett everett, a repair install [also called on in-place upgrade] might or might not should not harm.  a repair install not affect user accounts directly might problem because being caused else. this bit of shot in dark try same solution have recommended different fault symptoms in new user account - see recommendation in cannot create new user account can login.

i have ongoing problem every single time there bigger windows update. have several computers , updated on last week. computer, 1 created homegroup in first place, updated last. when came office, none of computers link homegroup. bottom line, remove of computers homegroup , shut them down. create homegroup on computer. works fine. start computer , gives me option join homegroup.  i type in homegroup password , joins. strange second computer started up, computer--the 1 created homegroup--immediately switches "you've been invited join homegroup." because of that, no 1 can access files. getting extremely frustrating.  as far troubleshooting goes, i've tried auto trouble shooter. tip told me go services.msc , make sure of following running , switched auto: peer network grouping, peer network identity mgr, homegroup listener, homegroup provider. on manual, not running "home group listener." changed 1 @ time , restarted 1 @ time

hello,  i have hp 400 g4 updated 1709 update. since upgrade, when user logs in, explorer.exe crashes , unable use computer.  opening task manager , killing explorer has allowed me troubleshoot issue, have been unable determine cause. msconfig started computer in diagnostic mode of services disabled, enabled 5 services @ time restarted. got 80% through before issue returned , msconfig cleared enabled/disable checkbox using keep track.  from event viewer there 3 errors repeat following error.  - system - provider [ name ] application error - eventid 1000 [ qualifiers ] 0 level 2 task 100 keywords 0x80000000000000 - timecreated [ systemtime ] 2017-1
