Desktop Monitor Doesn't Fully Go to Sleep - Microsoft Community


i have windows 10 pro 64-bit desktop. issue monitor goes normal black screen sleep after allotted inactivity time has expired. half time goes partial sleep state nothing on screen, still glowing gray. other half of time goes black it's supposed to. has done through last 2 monitors have owned (a 4k dell , 21:9 samsung) , 2 nvidia gtx video cards (970 , 1070). software date. 

what might cause monitor stay in glowing state rather going black? stay in state until wake computer up. it's not starts glowing , goes black.

this problem can occur because of 1 of following reasons:

  • one of processes or services not shutting down properly.
  • you have faulty or incompatible device driver installed.
  • you have faulty or incompatible program running.

to resolve concern in putting device in sleep mode, suggest perform clean boot. it determine third-party program/app causing issue. other applications or programs.
