"a network cable is loose or unplugged", but it actually - Microsoft Community

so on 1 particular work pc use, says 'network cable loose or unplugged'. nothing in setup has changed since first installed , several months there never problem.

this cable connects extender runs through roof business's central server. of these steps unnecessary it's problem pc's software or firmware, sake of total inclusive completeness, i've included them anyway.

to attempt fix it, i've done following ( , results in brackets ):

1: removed , replugged ethernet cable. ( no difference )

2: restarted pc. ( many times, no difference. )
3: plugged same ethernet cable computer next it. ( connected , gained internet access )
4: plugged in working ethernet cable computer. ( failed, same error )
5: replaced cabling, tried different server port , different roof extender. ( error remains )
6: checked device manager errors or device warnings. ( no errors, detects network drivers )
7: turned computer's power off , unplugged power cable overnight. ( no difference )
8: redownloaded , reinstalled motherboard drivers manufactuer's website. ( error persists )
9: reviewed windows event , system logs ( no errors reported )
10: checked server admin, no ip address or system settings changes have taken place. ( same ip , settings before problem started )
11: contacted isp testing. ( tests reveal functional connection computer. no response computer. )
12: plugged same ethernet cable driverless usb > ethernet converter. ( works immediately, using now. )

so i'm @ loss of else try. reinstall windows @ point?

hi, the problem may not software or external wiring related.

if workstation using separate ethernet card (pci or pci-e slot on motherboard) try removing , reinstalling (reseating) card. if integral device check connector bent/corroded pins or debris. if there internal cabling check well. if connecter attached directly motherboard there may cracked or compromised solder joint @ point of connection or elsewhere on board. if latter case add-on ethernet card can installed if there is open slot on motherboard to accept it.

hope helps , luck!
