Windows System Keyboard vs Application Keyboard (JP Keyboard on US - Microsoft Community


various windows interface components not use japanese - ime layout. example, annoying 1 search field in task bar. here, "\" character, have press "]" key on physical japanese keyboard. "@" mark mapped shift-2 key. when place cursor in search field, still shows japanese - ime input, using unknown layout.

the setup:

during installation of english windows 10, select japan region (i in tokyo). next set layout japanese. skip adding second keyboard. complete rest of install. post install, in the  control panel\clock, language, , region\language settings,the installer configures english (united states) japanese keyboard layout , english keyboard layout.

of course, keyboard layout totally wrong when selecting english layout. keys wrong when electing japanese layout well. english us\japanese layout combination has never worked (at least never me). instead needed 日本語\microsoft ime input method. remove japanese keyboard layout, leaving english (united states)\keyboard layout: us. add 日本語 language computer. japanese language added, microsoft ime input method becomes available. add ime under japanese.

lastly, want ime default input method physical keyboard japanese layout. still want os display language , system language english us. english has stay first in list. because can't select ime directly under english, have use control panel\all control panel items\language\advanced settings , set override default input language japanese - microsoft ime.

after completing these steps , quick restart, environment good. of windows in english, including control panels, emergency recovery environment, settings, etc... when using applications , apps, ime default input method , keys should be. in input fields in windows elements use incorrect layout.

this issue encountered due misconfigured language settings. assist better know whether have chosen multiple language input.

please follow steps check whether computer set multiple inputs:
1. go control panel.
2. click on clock, language , region.
3. click on language , check whether computer has multiple languages.
