Hidden network - Microsoft Community

hi,

so have 2 wireless networks broadcasting in house. on phone , on other devices can see , use both wireless networks. on laptop running windows 10, can see slower of 2. other 1 doesn't come possible connection through i'm connected on other devices. happening? did hide network mistake? how show again on computer? have hidden network showing on wireless networks list when enter information missing network fields, says unable connect.

it possible wifi networks broadcasting on both 2.4ghz & 5ghz wavebands & other devices have "dual-band" capabilities laptop wifi adapter not , therefore able see slower 2.4ghz signal. 

just example -

• my router & other computers have dual-band 802.11ac wifi,
• my older computer has older 802.11n wifi card single band,
• so older 1 can connect slower 2.4ghz signal router,
• but others can choose either signal.

note possible hide individual networks using specialised commands not possible accident.  not think have forgotten doing deliberately.  command have had have issued [in elevated command prompt] have been

netsh wlan add filter permission=block ssid="nameofthewifinetworktohide" networktype=infrastructure

you can, if wish, confirm -

right-click on start button, select windows powershell [admin] / command prompt [admin], give necessary admin permission proceed enter

netsh wlan show filters

if had blocked shown list of them if have never blocked each heading in results will have under it
