Function key alt-functions disabled? - Microsoft Community

hello,

ran interesting problem on asus strix running windows 10. half of alt-functions on f1-12 keys no longer work (sleep mode [fn+f1], adjusting screen brightness[fn+f5-7]/keyboard brightness [fn+f3-4], etc), rog key. audio adjustments keys f10-12 , screen duplication f8 still work, f1-7 seem have lost alternate functionality. still work regular function keys in other programs, keys aren't busted, can't seem use them intended keyboard/screen management functions.

tried uninstalling , reinstalling device, no luck.

any advice? thanks.

this keyboard issue may occur due corrupted or incompatible drivers. ask questions know best possible resolution offer:

  • which build , version of windows 10 installed on computer?
  • have tried restarting computer in safe mode networking start windows in basic state, using limited set of files , drivers?
  • did try perform clean boot start windows using minimal set of drivers , startup programs? helps eliminate software conflicts occur when install program or update or when run program in windows 10.
  • have tried running system file checker tool repair missing or corrupted system files?

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
