[SOLVED - sorta] Wifi won't auto connect when Ethernet is - Microsoft Community


i've been using ethernet on laptop stable connectivity purposes doesn't mean wouldn't use use wifi in case ethernet has issue. why if i've set wifi connection automatically connect in, never auto connect unless manually it.

the issue you’ve encountered regarding automatic connection of wi-fi on windows 10 pc may caused configuration or device driver not yet updated. sort out concern, we’d know following information:

  • what troubleshooting steps have done far?
  • which version of windows using?
  • if there's error message, can provide screenshot?

note: may check version of windows using clicking start, type winver , press enter.

on other hand, suggest manage group policy settings check if issue not related it. this, may follow steps below:

  1. click start, type run, , press enter.
  2. on run command window, type gpedit.msc , click ok.
  3. on left-side pane of local group policy editor window, navigate following folders: computer configuration > administrative templates > system > internet communication management > internet communicating settings.
  4. on right-side pane of window, double-click on turn off windows network connectivity status indicator active tests option open properties.
  5. select not configured , click ok save changes.
  6. once you’re done, may check if you’re able automatically connect device internet through wi-fi.

if issue continues, recommend uninstall , reinstall wi-fi driver on pc. re-established working state of device , eliminate software conflict. this, may proceed these steps:

  1. click start, type device manager , press enter.
  2. locate driver wi-fi device.
  3. right-click on it, select uninstall device, , confirm complete process.
  4. restart pc, system attempt reinstall driver.
  5. after completing these steps, may check if issue persists.

note: you may prompted administrator password , confirmation of changes require administrative rights. provide password , confirm proceed. please make sure follow steps care avoid issues.
