Microphone not working- Windows 10 (64bit) - Microsoft Community

operating system: microsoft windows 10 (64-bit)

the built-in microphone of laptop not work. used work before, since couple of weeks people cannot hear me (i.e. on skype): there noise in background (like flushing water) , voice super low. have tried update driver, reinstall again, , other steps suggested manual still no change. tried soft reboot didn't work either. drivers seem fine, still doesn't work. suggestion?

appreciate sharing troubleshooting steps you've done resolve microphone issue you're experiencing.

when mentioned "soft reboot", mean tested built-in mic while laptop on safe mode?

have tried creating administrator account , see if same issue occur? let know if you're experiencing account-specific problem.

may perform clean boot make sure no application causing issue. clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts occur when running or installing program in windows 10.
note: please go through section: how reset computer start usual after troubleshooting clean boot of kb article boot computer in normal startup after fixing issue.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance.
