XBox one controller stopped working in games - Microsoft Community

hi

up until xbox 1 controller working fine. last time player 30 minutes in destiny 2, think around month ago or so.

today wanted play games entirely on xbox one, , had plans wife it, , disappointed when xbox 1 controlled did not work. started dig issue , read forums. spent on 2 hours trying solve this. here details.

symptoms:

  • i connect xbox 1 controller usb cable
  • after connecting takes 2-5 seconds initialize. after works 1 second, , stops working.
  • it works in calibration program ("set usb game controllers")
  • once opened game bar , worked there, not in game
  • in little nightmares if click xbox button (main one) game screen flashes brighter, game won't switch controller mode , no other buttons work
  • xbox accessories app recognizes after reboot pc. rest of time tell me need connect controller.

steps tried:

  • i tried 5 different micro usb cables
  • i checked drivers in device manager - date
  • i checked firmware verison xbox accesories app tell me date
  • i tried other games, lik ark, destiny
  • i tried killing overlay services, after killing game bar it worked few seconds stopped working again

please, me. issue totally ruined evening.

maybe i'm oldschool, i'm used such things gamepads - working 24\7.

thank response. standard xbox 1 wireless controller has built-in bluetooth technology allow connect xbox 1 controller pc via bluetooth connection.

if controller working on xbox one, means there issue drivers or updates installed on pc. resolve concern, suggest manually uninstall drivers device manager , update again. here's how:

  1. open the device manager.
  2. right-click (or tap , hold) name of device.
  3. select uninstall.
  4. unplug usb cable controller , restart pc.

if issue persists, resetting windows update components resolve concern since started after update. may refer how reset windows update components? steps.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance.
