Black Screen with Cursor after login - Bad Drivers(?), - Microsoft Community

i having trouble out-of-date graphics drivers believe. had put off windows update month, , updated it. computer worked fine week, of games had out-of-date graphics driver. didn't think of because games played fine. then, turned on computer , happened. problem having when log computer, greeted black screen, being able see cursor. (not confused black screen on login page. can login, isn't problem.) when wait 30-45 minutes, see desktop , taskbar/dock, of files gone , there no applications on taskbar/dock, windows icon , cortana icon. when hover on taskbar/dock, spinning loading icon comes up, , when click on taskbar/dock, error message comes saying program has stopped responding , needs restarted. when click restart program or end task, nothing , cycle continues. tried opening safe mode, exact same problem happened. when ctrl+alt+delete , click task manager, cursor says it's loading, nothing ever opens. can right click on desktop, , view, sort by, refresh etc. menu comes up, entire computer freezes, exception of mouse, , have restart come back.

i have taken hard drive out of computer , put in old alienware pc, , same problem happening. i'm assuming there interference between operating system update , outdated drivers, i'm no expert.

since cannot access start menu, recommend reset computer fix problem. click link recovery options in windows 10. article contains situational information , resolution can perform when experiencing problems on windows 10 computer.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
