i running windows 10 pro
my cd/dvd drive has worked @ point after installed windows 10 not show in file explorer.
i don't use drive hence vagueness when problem may have started.
i did try write iso dvd @ point, following prompts windows, didn't work , although windows did not report error. subsequently managed write disk using third party software.
when in disk management, drive shows drive d, "cd-rom 0". shows no media though have t/p installation disk in device.
eject works , windows recognise hardware , can communicate firmware , therefore believe drive still functional.
in properties, status "this device working properly"
the driver microsoft dated 21/6/2006 version 10.0.15063.0
i have tried uninstalling device , rebooting - no change
i have tried making registry changes advised elsewhere ie
1. "hklm\system\currentcontrolset\services\atapi\controller0" /f /v enumdevice1 /t reg_dword /d 0x00000001
result : entry missing adding seemed make no difference after rebooting
2. removing upper , lower filters from "hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\class\{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
result: there no entry upper filter there lower filter deleted but, again, after rebooting, made no difference.
i have suspicion attempting use windows write files dvd , although option, mistake has affected access drive, have no idea , may red herring.
