Ethernet broke after updating to Windows 10 Creator's Edition. - Microsoft Community


ethernet working fine before restarted update. when update finished logged in see had no internet connection (red x). reset router. caused symbol go yellow caution, meaning connected didn't have internet access. have tried uninstalling , reinstalling drivers. made sure tcp/ipv4 enabled should be, were. error when diagnose "ethernet doesn't have valid ip configuration". can use wifi adapter fine can't router. isn't standard google guide great help, i've tried can think of , i've seen online.

the next step need run networking commands to:

  • reset tcp/ip stack.
  • release ip address.
  • renew ip address.
  • flush , reset dns client resolver cache.

to these, follow steps below:

  1. in search box on taskbar, type command prompt, press , hold (or right-click) command prompt, , select run administrator > yes.
  2. at command prompt, run following commands in listed order, , check see if fixes connection problem:
    • type netsh winsock reset , press enter.
    • type netsh int ip reset , press enter.
    • type ipconfig /release , press enter.
    • type ipconfig /renew , press enter.
    • type ipconfig /flushdns , press enter.
