windows 10 says it needs to update for security reasons, then updates - Microsoft Community

this goes on several times day , don't seem able interrupt cycle.  can't stop updating when pops up, though turned updates manual. no matter doing, computer updating, restarting , restoring, on , over.

help!

one of usual reasons why experiencing issue can because of corrupted or missing system files interrupting update process. know following isolate root cause of issue:

  • were you  able login computer before updates , restarts?
  • which version of windows 10 using? windows 10 1703 or windows 10 1709?

if using windows 10 version 1703 or 1709, suggest setting active hours on computer prevent automatic restart. perform needed troubleshooting steps without computer restarting.

  1. open settings.
  2. choose update & security.
  3. under windows update, choose change active hours.
  4. choose time perform troubleshooting steps.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance.
