Update & Security not working - Microsoft Community

edition: 10 pro
version: 1703
os build: 15063.608

     i've looked @ other similar questions , solutions given. don't think problem same. if try open update & security settings window stop responding. doesn't freeze because typing cursor still blink. also, can still move settings window around. including minimizing and maximising it.

    think may have caused problem. while updates have been failing install. in attempt stop updates know fail continuing i've tried on multiple occasions forced them stop. noticed fans turn on when surface pro 4 trying install these updates. opened task manager , force stopped app hogging cpu , ram resources. big mistake on part. , i'm in situation. know stupid on part.

    did install software recently. software old hp printer. deskjet f4280. don't know if software may have messed up.

having damaged windows update components within system can possible reason why experiencing issue opening update , security window. address concern, suggest running automated troubleshooter windows update. so, visit link, click on download troubleshooter windows 10 , follow prompts. after running tool, restart device, run windows update , install available updates. once updates installed in system, check if you'll have same issue opening update , security window.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
