install failed. please contact your software vendor - Microsoft Community


hi, laptop automatically updated windows 10 pro , have encountered several issues far. cant use laptop usual.

1) failing open pdf file. message ' install failed. please contact software vendor' appeared.

i have had adobe installed. if open program adobe first , choose pdf file wish open, works.

hence tried control panel->programe->default programe ....but when tried clicking 'associate file type or protocol program', there no response @ !!

2) start button @ left bottom taskbar in not responding @ all

3) when go file explorer, search bar not functioning @ all

run start menu troubleshooter:

if not work:

press windows key + x
click task manager
select processes tab
scroll down windows explorer select
click restart

if not work:

uninstall display driver:

press windows key + x
click device manager
expand display adapters
right click current display adapter
click uninstall
exit device manager
restart

try following:
right click known pdf file
click properties
click general tab
click change
select adobe reader

click apply ok
