Windows 10 update broke PC completely - Microsoft Community


while left computer, windows 10 auto updated itself. when came continue doing, logged in find out update had managed break video , audio drivers. had happen before wen't previous update, when got logged in, while drivers working, programs not open either not starting or crashing after few seconds (i.e internet browsers). start menu not open, , when try crtl alt delete task manager, nothing black screen comes up. computer has 3 accounts, 2 somehow working fine while account doesn't, works when opened in safe mode.

there's possibility issue related corrupted user profile. let's try creating local user or administrator account. then, copy files new user profile.

here complete steps on how transfer data 1 user profile another:

1. log on user other new user created or user want copy files from. (note: need sign in administrator access other user accounts , copy files.)

2. open documents folder clicking the start button, , click computer. double-click hard disk drive windows installed (it's c: drive), double-click users.

3. open corrupted user account folder.

4. click the view tab, , click show hidden files, folders, , drives.

5. copy files new user profile created. select files , folders need, except following files:

    • ntuser.dat
    • ntuser.dat.log
    • ntuser.ini

6. once have copied files, log off.

7. log in new user.

if have email messages in e-mail program, must import email messages , addresses new user profile before delete old one. if working properly, can delete old profile.
