RunDLL error on start up of laptop after Windows 10 upgrade - Microsoft Community


error: rundll following message showing every time start laptop. "there problem starting c:\program. specified program not found." error started after upgrade windows 10, version 1709 on 12/13/2017.

hi,

rundll error may cause corrupted or damaged system files on computer. troubleshoot issue, suggest try these following troubleshooting methods.

method 1:

disconnect external devices (printers, scanner, usb (universal serial bus) drives, etc...) except mouse , keyboard , boot up.

if corrects issue add devices 1 @ time until discover piece of hardware causing issue. updated drivers software particular device.

method 2: performing clean boot

a clean boot performed start windows using minimal set of drivers , startup programs. helps eliminate software conflicts occur when install program or update or when run program.

you may troubleshoot or determine conflict causing problem performing clean boot. so, follow these steps:

  1. log in pc account administrator rights.
  2. on the search box, type msconfig and press enter.
  3. on the services tab of the system configuration dialog box, tap or click select the hide microsoft services check box, , tap or click disable all.
  4. on the startup tab of the system configuration dialog box, tap or click open task manager.
  5. on the startup tab in task manager, each startup item, select item , click disable.
  6. uninstall program while running in clean boot.

method 3: run dism

the dism may fix windows corruption errors. so, follow these steps:

  1. right-click the start menu and select command prompt (admin).
  2. run command: dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  3. if operation completed successfully, close command prompt , check if issue has been fixed.

method 4: run system file checker

system file checker utility in windows allows users scan corruptions in windows system files , restore corrupted files. so, follow these steps:

  1. right-click the start menu and select command prompt (admin).
  2. run command: sfc /scannow
  3. this may take several minutes finish. if command prompt shows verification 100% complete, close command prompt , check if issue has been fixed.
