Windows 10 PIN code not working after System Recovery 1 - Microsoft Community

after did system recovery when start menu stopped coming when click on it, the windows 10 pin code didn't work anymore, , i'm not admin, can't these steps!

to repair pin & picture password:
open file explorer , browse location:

c:\windows\serviceprofiles\localservice\appdata\local\microsoft\ngc
delete within folder
go settings-> accounts->sign-in options
click add pin again , set pin
pin sign in should work going forward

should try many pin codes can find new pin code work?

hi joey,

windows pin helps have additional security pc. if not work, or if forgot pin, , you're not admin user, can change pin changing user account type. if can access device, can try changing user account type settings following steps below:

  1. go settings.
  2. click accounts.
  3. on left panel, select sign-in options.
  4. under other people, select user account want change, click change account type.
  5. under account type, drop-down menu, select administrator click ok.

after doing so, try changing pin again.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
