i have laptop win 10 connected fios network wifi , can turn on hotspot setting no problem. have desktop pc connected fios network bu ethernet. hotspot not turn on in desktop. when try turn on, message cannot connect.
anyone have idea how can turn on?
open mobile hotspot settings (settings > network & internet > mobile hotspot)
turn on mobile hotspot
under "related settings", click change adapter options
take note of adapter connected internet , adapter mobile hotspot (typically named "local area connection* [#]")
right click adapter connected internet , click properties
go sharing tab
uncheck "allow other network users connect through computer's internet connection". if unchecked, skip step.
click ok
again, open properties > sharing same adapter.
check "allow other network users connect through computer's internet connection"
(if popup says "internet connection sharing enabled...", click ok.)
under "home networking connection:", select mobile hotspot adapter
click ok
open start type: regedit
right click regedit click run administrator
navigate following registry key:
hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\wlansvc\parameters\hostednetworksettings\
delete following key:
hostednetworksettings
restart try again.
run network adapter troubleshooter
open start > settings > update & security > troubleshoot
scroll down, select network adapters
click run troubleshooter
when complete, restart see if works.
if not, can try updating both network adapter drivers or uninstall them.
press windows key + x
click device manager
expand network adapters
right click adapter, click uninstall
exit device manager restart
windows 10 re-detect them , reinstall them.
