this issue appeared on sept. 6th, 2017, after itunes directed ipod restore (why itunes did don't know). before ipod worked in stand-a-lone , when plugged resident machine itunes. once of data deleted directed itunes, usb ipod plugged no longer recognized, regardless of usb used.
i did following; none of has fixed problem on 2 separate ipods (6th & 7th gens) , on 5 different computers.
(there countless people same problem , continue see same guidance posted over, , over, , over... no solution identified yet... please me , else if can):
- plugged in known second ipod; same "usb device not recognized" warning popped-up
- used different cable; the same "usb device not recognized" warning popped-up
- removed , reinstalled itunes , plugged in ipod on original windows 10 machine; same "usb device not recognized" warning popped-up
- removed usb's device manager , restarted. usb's continue work other devices not either ipod
- installed itunes , plugged in ipod on windows 10 machine; same "usb device not recognized" warning popped-up
- installed itunes , plugged in ipod on older windows 7 machine; same "usb device not recognized" warning popped-up
- installed itunes , plugged in ipod on macbook pro; itunes didn't recognize ipod plugged
- installed itunes , plugged in ipod on mac desk top; itunes didn't recognize ipod plugged
** 2 know ipods have been tested on 5 different machines, 2 windows 10; 1 windows 7, macbook pro, , desktop mac. of usb's on of machines function properly.
i tried software work-arounds include:
- https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht204095 (right-click on the usbaapl64.inf
or usbaapl.inf
file , select install.)
- look apple mobile device usb driver. (the folder there driver not.
- removing usb's , restarting
- suspending, restarting related ipod , apple mobile device support services
now have done can find online fix problem no luck @ loss. can please help? in advance time.

since have tried using different cable, different windows computers , made sure usb ports working, recommend in touch device manufacturer's support site further assistance. assist in ensuring latest firmware update device went through successfully.
