New HP ProBook dead after most recent update - Microsoft Community


my laptop did windows 10 update yesterday , kept restarting after update.  gave me stopcode error, ks sys.  had switch off , make noise , not starting @ all.  how can fix please?

hi trudy,

we may need further investigate concern able identify cause of issue. showing black screen without windows logo or cursors? suggest performing system restore following steps below:

  1. start desktop, , after manufacturers logo disappears and windows 10 tries boot, press , hold power button 5-10 seconds perform hard shut down.  

  2. do step #1 until see the windows logo screen or please wait during boot. (you may need perform 3 times.) 

  3. after windows 10 boots the windows 10 recovery environment (winre), can access startup recovery, safe mode, and command prompt. 

  4. go to troubleshoot > advanced options > system restore, , check if have restore point. 

  5. in list of available restore points, choose date prior issue. steps can found in this article on how perform system restore. refer to restore system restore point.
     

if steps above fails, suggest boot computer in safe mode (while in recovery environment) , see if helps. follow steps below on how boot in safe mode:
 

  1. go to troubleshoot > advanced options > startup settings and click restart. 

  2. upon restart, click/press 4 to boot into safe mode.
     

if  safe mode does not work, may need to reset your computer. follow steps below:
 

  1. go to troubleshoot > advanced options > reset pc. 

  2. choose keep files , applications. re-install windows 10 whilst keeping data , applications.
