What keeps resetting my proxy settings? - Microsoft Community


i run privoxy (currently version 3.0.8) under windows 10 creators update 1703/15063.608 (which helps stop malware reaching machine preventing websites serving un-vetted 3-party advertising/etc random places on web w/o knowledge or consent. disable temporarily when interferes web page/application's operation.

for work, however, have configure proxy, under windows "control panel>internet options>connections (tab)>lan settings". check "use proxy server..." , "bypass proxy server...", , either fill in address/port 127.0.0.1:8118 (which privoxy listens), or drill down "advanced" , fill in 127.0.0.1:8118 of http/secure/ftp/socks, or without checking "use same protocol...".

invariably, random time later, of configuration erased, blanked out. have re-enter again. happens several times day.

i run chrome (60.0.3112.113 64-bit) , firefox (55.0.3 64-bit).

under assumption have sort of malware running amok, have been scanning daily avg free , malwarebytes. neither of these find anything.

any suggestions? started few weeks ago, after installing creators update. did not notice immediately, tracking down when might have installed application might culprit difficult.
