Computer crashes randomly - Microsoft Community

so in past few weeks have been having difficulties asus laptop running windows 10. happily working along of sudden whole system crashes. (the computer shuts down instantly) when restart wanting disk scan. 

this happens multiple times 1 day fine few days. happens computer starting others right when has started when load webpage, etc.

does sound bug in operating system or problem computer?

i have had computer since feburary 2017.

a bad sector can 1 of factors why issue occurs. assist concern, suggest run surface test on hard drive using chkdsk command-line , perform clean boot in windows 10. chkdsk windows utility can check integrity of hard disk , can fix various file system errors. this, follow steps below:

  1. in search box, type command prompt.
  2. right-click on command prompt , select run administrator.
  3. once user account control window pops up, click yes.
  4. type command below , press enter.
    chkdsk /f /r
    note: it take time finish process when running chkdsk.


if have completed chkdsk on surface of hard drive, we recommend check article on how perform clean boot in windows. helps eliminate software conflicts occur when install program or update. may determine conflict causing issue performing method.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance.
