"We can't sign in to your account" error message - Microsoft Community


i've been getting error message , have been unable sign in account on week now.

i'm running windows 10. attempting sign in @outlook.com email address username. can log in account online, doesn't seem issue account itself. i've checked windows updates , of evening device date.

i have tried:

  • signing out , trying sign in (many times)
  • signing out, restarting , trying sign in (many times)
  • disabling anti-virus software
  • changing account password 
  • running system file checker

i did create new local administrator account, but  don't want delete account because have settings how want them , i'd figure out how log in original account if @ possible.

i've been searching , realize common issue, have tried of suggested fixes make sense of/felt comfortable trying , haven't had luck. 

i'm open suggestions on else can try solve problem if has any. if can offer or solution, appreciate it.

hi,

some group policies may cause difficulties in signing in account. can happen if two-step verification enabled on account. isolate case, we'd ask few questions:

  • were there significant changes made on device prior occurring?
  • have tried replicate issue logging in microsoft account?
  • do remember turning on two-step verification feature? if yes, disable or turn off , check if encounter same error. (see article: about two-step verification detailed discussion two-step verification.)
