the short story goes:
- device: lenovo thinkpad tablet 8
- clean install of windows 10 (1709) using usb hub, flash drive , mouse
- deleting partitions in advanced/custom mode
- after reboot expected select location , click next
- neither touchscreen, nor usb mouse or keyboard work
- don't know how boot usb again or enter uefi
to elaborate bit more...
i had windows 10 , running fine via incremental upgrades 1709.
i went uefi windows, made sure usb hdd set first in boot order, disabled secure boot (just in case), enabled f12 hotkey boot device selection. setup flash drive clean install using official media creation tool (presumably 1709 well). connected flash drive , mouse via old usb hub devices usb port , booted windows install wizard. chose advanced/custom mode, deleted partitions on hdd: boot, msr, primary/windows, small recovery, 7gb recovery. installation went on without obvious problems , after time presented screen select region , next button. though had been able navigate through whole installation process mouse, there no mouse cursor found now! of course, touchscreen doesn't either.
i tried forcing reboot several times trying connect different mice , keyboard , w/o hub - no avail. @ point blue screen showing said something went wrong , asking me whether wanted go recovery hey again, use input so. guess change happened because had force reboots power button.
pressing f12 during boot didn't give effect , know of no way uefi outside windows. no input, no bios, no boot usb.
this pretty bricked device , because bloody mouse won't work booting internal storage while did booting external flash drive silly me.
i have been using , installing windows since 3.11, flashing tens of custom android roms on 5 devices , have never had post here , have never come across stupid.
for sake of windows, hope can me this.
follow gold-standard illustrated tutorial install windows 10 has been used hundreds of thousands of consumers without single problem or return issue: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...
install uefi i'd not change boot order in firmware must remain set windows boot manager first @ times. instead use bios boot manager hotkey trigger boot menu , choose uefi version of media. if skips f12 key turn off fast boot in firmware or use lenovo onekey next power button boot menu.
uefi has full mouse support should try mouse if yours fails. can access ease of access tools on installation screens use on-screen keyboard tab, enter , arrow or down.
can move hard drive pc install, move , should start due windows 10 remarkable adaptability, swap out drivers requesting several restarts.
hope helps. feel free ask questions , let know how goes. keep working until it's resolved.
