Accents stopped working - Microsoft Community

after updating version 1709, cannot type acute accents longer. using english windows language, latin american keyboard layout. type accents "dead keys" until update. accents associated acute , dieresis (key next p key) not work. grave , circunflex still work (è, ê; not useful in spanish, though). if keep key pressed couple of seconds, double accent produced: ´´ , ¨¨. so, hardware of key works.

i have tried changing keyboard spanish (latin american), without solving problem. tried several combinations of language , keyboard, without success.

any suggestion wil welcome. in advance.

considering issue happened after installing update, there possibility keyboard language may conflicting changes has been made.

we suggest rolling previous version of windows , try updating again using different method. kindly follow steps below:

  1. open settings.
  2. choose update & security.
  3. under it, choose recovery.
  4. there should section go previous version of windows 10 beside recovery options, click get started button.
  5. then, proceed process.
  6. after going previous build, update computer using link. kindly click update now button install it.

note: if don’t see “go earlier build or go previous version of windows 10” section, it’s been more 31 days since you've installed update.

don't hesitate update result.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
