I can't log in to my Windows 10 (local) account - get the - Microsoft Community

i can't log in windows 10 (local) account - message "that password incorrect. make sure you're using password microsoft account".

i know correct password, have clicked reveal password check correct, , not keyboard issue.

i have used password outlook , microsoft account elsewhere, local issue laptop.

this happened following period hadn't logged laptop month or two, , suspect result of windows 10 update. i've seen problem mentioned few times on community page no clear resolution. 

i cannot past login / logon / sign in page @ all. i've tried pressing esc while computer boots goes login page, can't windows set / troubleshoot page.

this frustrating , know i'm using correct password, have absolutely no way laptop.

please can help?

if you’re being prompted log in using microsoft account, it’s either local account had been migrated microsoft account or you’re using local account same password microsoft account. before proceed, need answer following questions:

 

  • are using different credential microsoft account?
  • have updated microsoft account password?
  • can provide screenshot of error message you’re getting?
  • did make changes computer before issue happened?

 

in meantime, can try logging in computer while offline. disconnect network , sign in using credentials. can refer links below instructions on how reset microsoft account , local account.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
