Nvidia GPU cannot be detected by Device Manager, Malfunctioning - Microsoft Community

so have these 2 problems right now. don't know if correlated.

i'll start gpu. 2 weeks ago laptop (asus x556ub) started having force shut down while playing sims 4. didn't think issue until realized nvidia 940m not working , intel hd 520 working in device manager.

i tried using driver easy software , says nvidia gpu unplugged. set device manager showing non present devices , appeared saying component not connected device right now. tried updating driver using asus support , says there no compatible hardware. noob am, uninstalled gpu. can't detected anymore.

these other things have tried:

- updating drivers

- checking disk corruptions

- uninstalling intel gpu

- running device , hardware  troubleshooter hundreds of times (hardware changes not detected)

- resetting win 10 ver 1511 (made keyboard , touchpad malfunction few times, of fixed)

- tried resetting , updating bios

- updating win 10 more recent version (1709 think)

i tried these things dozen times or more 2 weeks , still doesnt work. sooooo tired , frustrated this. brought certified asus service center , said take month or 2 , cost since said nvidia should working because resolutions fine. doesnt show in device manager now.

someone please help!
