can't boot windows 10 after yesterday's update - Microsoft Community


my dell computer running windows 10 updated yesterday.  today when went use it, got screen picture on it, shut down.  when tried restart it, thing got black screen arrow (curser) on it.  i move arrow mouse, screen remained black.  i shut down , restarted @ least 4 times , same thing happened every time.  i tried starting holding down shift , f8 key - same thing. fortunately, have back-up computer, need main computer started.  any suggestions?

a possible cause issue corrupted system file. if you're unable boot advanced startup using shift + f8 key, suggest creating windows 10 installation media using media creation tool. follow steps outlined under using tool create installation media (usb flash drive, dvd, or iso file) install windows 10 on different pc. after creating installation media, follow steps below:

  1. insert windows 10 installation media , boot pc.
  2. boot disc or usb flash drive.
  3. from windows setup screen, click next.
  4. click repair computer.
  5. on advanced startup window, select troubleshoot.
  6. click advanced options.
  7. click system restore.
  8. follow on-screen instruction on restoring pc system restore point.
