SD card inserted into PC doesn't do anything - Microsoft Community

greetings,

i inserted sd card (memory stick pro-hg duo) sd card reader slot on new dell inspiron 15 5000 series laptop windows 10.  i thought automatically read nothing happens.  memory stick 1 use in old sony cyber-shot dsc-wx5 camera.  also, tired connecting camera laptop using hdmi cable.     

what have laptop recognize or import photos?   thanks suggestions.

we may need further investigation identify issue , cause. please provide following information:

  • have tried inserting or connecting other sd cards?
  • are getting error messages when trying insert sd card, or when trying connect camera? if so, please send screenshot.
  • are getting error messages in device manager? please send screenshot.

in meantime, suggest run hardware , devices troubleshooter scan computer, identify problem, , attempt fix issue automatically. may refer steps below:

  1. press windows key + r , type control panel.
  2. type troubleshooting in search bar , click on troubleshooting.
  3. click on hardware , devices.
  4. follow steps wizard run troubleshooter.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
