hi dave. i'm greg, volunteer installation specialist , 8 year windows mvp here you.

have checked updates @ settings>update & security>windows update , expedited install of them needed patches or drivers, giving restarts , going check until no more offered?

have tried updating display driver pc or display device's support downloads webpage? note not monitor driver display adapter's driver. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

if no newer driver try uninstalling driver in device manager (reached right clicking start button) choosing display driver, driver tab, uninstall. restart pc reinstall.

can roll driver in device manager on display device's driver tab, or try installed drivers choose update driver, browse pc, let me pick. work backwards trying each driver until find one.

if caused windows updates can check installed @ settings>update & security>windows update under installed updates, uninstall them link there, , hide hide updates tool downloaded here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

if fall creators update version 1709, can check @ settings>system>about, can roll @ settings>update & security>recovery, hide using same tool above until matures.

if else fails can try system restore point before problem began: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

hope helps. feel free ask questions , let know how goes. keep working until it's resolved.
