My Laptops Ethernet port no longer works. I need help here. - Microsoft Community

okay got home school , went room start desktop. once on went play osu! completed map , seen desktop had "connected no internet" icon (also osu said couldn't save score offline.) went on laptop , said connected internet on wifi. (i have laptop connected on wifi.) checked ethernet cable see if still plugged in , was. - - - have laptop connected wifi , desktop connected on ethernet cable laptop. use bridge connection feature connect these 2 devices. way can have desktop hooked internet without having move router. - - - got onto laptop , though oh maybe  i need restart laptop. did half way through restart asked me type of keyboard layout wanted use. . . clicked went menu thing can access command prompt out logging in. confused, clicked button said "quit , return windows 10" computer booted normally. logged on , checked wifi connection(it same before restarted computer.) looked @ desktop , still said no internet. went network adapter settings see if somehow disabled ethernet adapter while gone. enabled(i think because clicked on , 1 of options disable network device) but, had red x on it. decided "hey should disable network bridge , re-enable it. has worked before." , disabled it. once finished disabling both ethernet icon , bridge icon disappeared. uh more confused.

my desktop (if matters) "dell precision t3500 doesn't have original installation on it. (i mean windows installed fresh on desktop.)

for isolate concern regarding internet connection, know following:

  • is first time experienced issue?
  • were there changes made on computer prior issue (i.e., updates, software installation)?
  • does happen other devices?

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
