Can I change the time the IR camera is on when Windows Hello is trying - Microsoft Community

if laptop on , open login screen windows hello keep trying find face, if no 1 in front of camera. continue until unlock looking @ camera or forcing login.

i've come laptop after few hours find windows hello still trying find face , ir camera on (with red led indicating activity flashing), and, part of laptop case warm touch.

i can't remember when first noticed can not if recent development or if it's that's been going on since got in march of 2017.

is there way tell windows hello "fail"/fall pin or password login if can't find within time (e.g. 1 minute)? aware of registry modification change time-out time windows hello (apparent) infinity finite time?

ps dell inspiron 5378 (march 2017), 8 gb ram, windows 10 creators update (current of 25/7/17)

hi potentilla,

windows hello more personal way sign in or touch , requires front-facing camera. if laptop open , don't want camera or windows hello try find face, can close laptop (making camera face keyboard) put in standby mode , stop scanning. continue using laptop, can open again , use windows hello log in.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
