Problems after Windows 10 update on 11/20/17 - Microsoft Community

since windows did automatic update on 11/20/17, laptop has not worked @ all.  start, entire pc has been wiped clean of pictures, documents, desktop icons (except few short cuts), including shortcut totalav virus protection, plus google browser (which reinstalled.)

i tried system restore can't 1 prior update.  friend suggested perhaps there rootkit virus involved , original desktop , library hidden under new one.  however, scans don't find anything.  friend said cost $180 @ pc doctor problem update resolved , still not work right.

i'm 69 , computer knowledge strictly seat of pants.  please, please help!  tyia

fall creators update version 1709? check @ settings>system>about. if check files if archived due installation problems @ c:\windows.old, or if user account had replaced during , still there under old user account @ c:\users.

if not can roll older version @ settings>update & security>recovery. hide using hide updates tool here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 , wait mature , patched kinds of problems suffered.

if still older version , had regular updates cause problems can uninstall them @ settings>update & security>windows update>installed updates @ uninstall updates link, , hide them using hide updates tool.

remember factory or upgrade installs inferior installs enthusiasts won't run because they'd expect endless issues. consider doing clean install in link compiles best possible install stay way long stick tools , methods given: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
