My disk usage goes to around 80-100% just from basic tasks. - Microsoft Community

when doing things on chrome youtube or googling stuff disk usage @ 0-3% guess normal. however, when starting chrome or process shoots high maximum usage before going low usage.

i have been having lot of game freezes , crashes in more intensive or newer games when before run , have little no problems. i've noticed disk stays @ 100% while playing 1 of these games testing , can last 10-20 seconds before freezes , have quit via task manager.

i have tried sfc , chkdsk commands, 1 time chkdsk said detected 2 errors not able fix used chkdsk without /f or anything. every other time said no problems found later used /f /x /r commands.

i stuck , can't find helpful it.

there several things can fix issue.

let disable 1 of microsoft's services superfetch.msc. type services on search box press enter, search superfetch.msc, right click on , select stop.

we suggest defragging c: drive typing dfrgui on search box press enter highlight c:drive, click optimize then choose defrag.

disabling visual effects can in lowering disk usage. type sysdm.cpl on search box , press enter. click advanced tab > settingss/performance > adjust better perormance.

please let know result after making changes.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
