updated surface pro and hello no longer gives me option use built in fingerprint reader. preinstalled version of windows worked fine it. how fix?
give these try:
1. reset facial recognition and/or fingerprint options
press windows key + open settings.
click accounts , select sign-in options.
locate fingerprint or facial recognition options , click remove under them.
after that, click started , follow on-screen instructions reset fingerprint , facial recognition.
reboot pc if needed.
2. modify group policy settings
creators update might have modified of crucial settings of group policy. therefore, recommend launch group policy editor , check/edit settings related windows hello functionality.
pres windows key, type gpedit, , press enter.
click on computer configuration , open administrative templates.
select windows components , open biometrics.
click on facial features , right-click on configure enhanced anti-spoofing option.
select edit , disable configure enhanced anti-spoofing feature.
reboot pc.
3. update drivers
if of system drivers, webcam , fingerprint reader drivers, corrupted during upgrade process, windows hello may fail perform. fix that, try update corresponding drivers:
right-click on windows key , select device manager.
locate hello, webcam, , fingerprint drivers individually , right-click on each of them.
select remove driver software , wait removal finished.
repeat removal windows hello related drivers , reboot pc.
once done, open device manager, click action -> scan hardware changes.
system should automatically detect , reinstall drivers.
