Facing issues with Cardreaders after installing 1703 / W10 - Microsoft Community

dear all,

i work computer company , using opk kits imaging our desktop computers.

at moment, still rolling out w10 1607.1 since creators update (1703 , released 1703.1) has nasty issue.

it has been tested , confirmed on multiple systems here, different mainboards, , both w10 home , professional.

here's issue:
put sd card cardreader. either desktop built-in cardreader or other internal cardreader tested (several brands) have same issue.

if use "eject usb storage" task bar, shown below, code 47 error in device manager.

now, 1607 or older versions, once remove sd card, error disappears (because remove hardware computer) not in case. here persists after remove sd card. re-inserting card nothing, doesn't show again.

in short: seems eject option disables cardreader rather ejects sd card. also, deleting driver , reinstalling won't work until reboot system. sd card/cardreader can accessed again.

funny enough, if eject sd card through windows explorer right clicking drive , "eject" works fine , can re-insert card correctly showing again.

(by way, doing normal usb sticks in normal usb headers works fine it's not general usb thing either.)

i pretty amazed if first notice this, older hits when looking issue link stated there, troubleshooter can't fix it, other drivers don't solve issue (hard find way such generic devices) either.

any ideas missing here? or maybe problem built-in windows driver? in case, appreciate if has 1703(.1) compatible driver remedy issue.

hi rob,

there lot of possible reasons why issue happening. hardware compatibility issues latest version of windows, corrupted system files, incorrect registry keys, , outdated drivers still doesn't have latest working updates creators update few of these reasons. can issue unusual because @ times, cardreaders or other devices receives error code 47 totally fail work if there no available working drivers after creators update. in case, still worked after have done said steps. of external card readers supports plug , play ejecting device , doing plug , replug reinstall built-in driver device. different since have computers have card readers built-in inside machine.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance.
