Protocol smbv1 enabled in W10 Fall Creators Update (RS3) - Microsoft Community

hi,

on october 17 came new version of windows 10: fall creators update (rs3). update smbv1 protocol going disappear improve product safety, yesterday surprised.

i performed clean installation of rs3 , found still had protocol enabled , access old nas using ws2003. attached image detailing problem:

i found following information in couple of internet articles:

------

actually, microsoft said new computers or clean os installations after release of fall update no longer have smbv1 installed. upgrading earlier version still has smbv1 installed, remain , continue function.

"this not patching, nor upgrading," pyle said. "this clean install rs3."

this means microsoft decision not affect existing windows installations, smbv1 might part of critical system. users want rid of smbv1 still have manually disable smbv1 on existing machines, or perform clean install redstone 3.

------

so why have smbv1 enabled on new w10 (rs3)?
