Error 0x80090016 ----- HELP PLEASE - Microsoft Community

hello in advance assistance i'll attempt give info/go in order point form.

  • my father updated hp computer  windows 10 update first time (only four/five months old computer)

  • after update completed computer went log-in screen , entered pin numerous times no prevail, error code 0x80090016

  • we attempt enter drop box password , not work either continue same error message contact support found little of.
  • i did "googling" , found solutions one: was starting in safe mode (that did not work), two: saving files (i hope since there lot on there) external drive computer repair , nothing, three: obvious when entering pin says restarted computer may fix error (did many times count , nothing); , lastly four: attempted recover since a backup was never done there's nothing can done?

really need father since uses computer leisure & work did best efforts try , figure out issue, can gather people have had issues , have not seen/found has fixed issue.

there might damaged system files on computer caused issue. since cannot system restore due lack of backup restore points, need next reset on computer. have article on our support site can resolve issue. kindly visit link provided here , follow steps on how reset computer: recovery options in windows 10.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
