Trying to disable the Insert key with a Registry edit - Microsoft Community

this should relatively simple registry edit, can't work. i've disabled other keys, appropriate registry entry exists. should need edit it.

the scan code insert key 52 hex.

i had created reg_binary key called scancode map here:
hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\keyboard layout

the existing entry is:

00000000 00000000 03000000 00003a00 00004600 00000000

this specifies 2 keys remap (the number 1 more number of keys remapped)

00003a00 maps capslock nothing.

00004600 maps scrolllock nothing.

i rewrote key this:

00000000 00000000 04000000 00003a00 00004600 00005200 00000000

that seems should map insert nothing, insert still functions following reboot.

am missing should obvious? microsoft sculpt keyboard if makes difference, scan code should scan code.

this posted devices , drivers, seemed closest match.

i have additional information. turns out registry edit did disable key, not 1 want disable. 0 key on numeric key pad has scan code 52 (hex)/82 (decimal). that's key disabled.

using application reports scan codes key, see "ext" marked "yes" key want disable. unfortunately, have no idea trying tell me.

green highlight: 0 key on separate keypad.

yellow highlight: insert key on keyboard.

hoping have clue!

thanks.
