Problem with Sound on Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

i have cassette player/recorder , turntable. both plug computer usb. when had windows 8 sound came through speakers on computer. have windows 10 not. can't record cassettes , vinyl records because software not work unless sound comes through computer's speakers. asked techs @ mcafee , didn't know why can't sound. out there know can do?

mcafee?  worst program install on pc, ruins it's installed?  that's problem rather solution.  uninstall , use built-in defender offers best performance instead of worst possible thing install. 

do devices show in device manager installed driver?  right click start open device manager, on view tab enable hidden devices.  players in categories.  if missing driver try update driver. 

right click volume icon in bottom right system tray, choose playback devices, right click empty area show hidden devices, see either there?  if right click run troubleshooter. 

next type troubleshoot in start search, open troubleshoot app, run hardware, playback , sound troubleshooters. 

 

go on windows 10 performance , install integrity checklist - microsoft community make sure install set correctly, optimized best performance , needed repairs done.

if you'll report results i'll keep helping until it's resolved.

hello, so bought new laptop came windows 10 pre-installed. when unpacking, store clerk created dummy local account used when starting first time - make process faster syncing microsoft account, can sync later - said. anyway, done , welcomed desktop. synced microsoft account , went in. synced right away - down wallpapers , themes - save 1 thing; the account name. it still using dummy local account name, despite picture has changed account picture. clicked 'sign in microsoft account instead', , process failed in end. said "[my e-mail account] here already. user in device uses microsoft account, can't add here" i tried removing e-mail & app account under 'e-mail & app account' tab , when tried again, still didn't work. please, want name here. oh, , don't know topic should fall - there's no 'sync' specifically, pick 1 think closest. sorry in advance. ...
