Brightness adjusts back and forth??? - Microsoft Community

my laptop screen brightens , dims repeatedly , forth, typically while i'm running mildly cpu-intensive. don't need have else going on, problem has manifested no programs open besides video editor , document of video notes. apart being extremely distracting, has effect of stuttering frames in video editing software during playback, , dropping frames in video games. few seconds after pause video editor or close whatever game i'm playing, dimming , brightening continues several seconds before returning normal. 

i disabled adaptive brightness weeks ago, , check see it hasn't magically turned on, problem persists. it's not adaptive brightness; seems tied processing, can't find way turn off or make stop.

check power plan: maybe you're on power saver? search cortana power options. try changing high performance or balanced.
