Issue With Hardware Configuration Persistence - Microsoft Community

i may need split issue 2 separate parts [happy if appropriate] have issue change in way windows handles hardware configurations during os update. in short, find w10 repeatedly ignore configuration settings on 2 key pieces of hardware, both of cause annoying [if fixable] failures.
issue 1 - audio configuration
the first concerns audio output configuration. have 2 computers running w10: powerful custom-built gaming machine uses nvidia 1080gtx graphics card drive 3 monitors , has creative x-fi titanium sound card, small fanless system built on asus mini-itx motherboard uses integrated graphics of fitted core i7 7700t processor , on-board realtek audio.
both systems connect same set of logitech surround speakers; both systems use fibre-optic sp/dif "toslink" connectors that.
periodically - , without warning - windows update take place unilaterally decide if have hdmi-connected monitor, audio output should redirected endpoint. if go "sound" applet in control panel , literally disable devices *except* optical output, windows update unilaterally re-activate them , send audio there, *to display device has no speakers*. now, understand audio fidelity possible on hdmi better sp/dif [which uses older protocol had use slight signal compression], purely technical perspective, hdmi deliver better audio. since none of 3 monitors have speakers in them, won't work me.
issue 2 - drive "fast start"
both of computers have ability run both windows 10 , gnu/linux. need use both operating systems work. however, aspect of silent installations run windows update involve periodic reconfiguration of control panel>power options>system settings>"turn on fast-start"
when turned on, ntfs volume visible both operating systems left "partially cached" - i.e. in unsafe state, rendering inaccessible linux build.
thoughtfully, microsoft provide ability disable feature [as indicated above] totally disregard random frequency during periodic updates.
both of these issues fall in category of software changes over-riding user-specified settings, *against wishes of user*. no software should - *my* computer, set way *i* want it.
i looking way of setting master override value stops these periodic updates changing setting have elected configure in particular way?
does know of way please?
i'd prefer not remove windows systems if can continue use it, sick , tired of windows 10 thinking has right make these changes. doesn't. these user settings reason, , os needs respect them.
helpful suggestions gratefully received.
