Windows Shell Dll crashes every time when I open microphone properties - Microsoft Community

hello.

as title says, windows shell dll crashes every time when open microphone properties in sound control window. connected microphones not work.

 

i have manually updated audio driver latest version. using sfc/scannow in command prompt returned no detected errors. , when tried run dism.exe, tells me command doesn't exist.

i using fujitsu sh761 laptop, 64-bit. soundcard generic realtek high definition audio.

this error might occur due outdated drivers or windows blocks certificates leads system unable verify identities of devices. resolve issue, try methods below:

method 1: disable audio effect

if set audio effects, mode in equalizer, removed or turn off , see if same issue occur.

method 2: uninstall , reinstall drivers

if updating drivers did not work, try uninstalling , restart pc. system install default driver automatically once restarted. check if error appear again after driver reinstallation.

method 3:  configure windows accept certificates

1. on search bar, type powershell.
2. from list, choose windows powershell, right-click on , select run administrator. might asked uac.
3. on powershell command window, type or paste command: set-executionpolicy -executionpolicy unrestricted -scope currentuser
4. once process done, close command windows , restart computer.

keep in loop result.
